This morning’s sunrise over the Madison River was breathtakingly cold, but with winter’s beauty comes its challenges—namely, the Madison River Gorge. Yesterday, on Valentine’s Day, the river delivered its almost annual “gift,” sending water flowing into Lions Park.
This flooding has created a hidden danger, with water reaching depths of nearly four feet in some areas. Last night’s snowfall has further concealed these hazards, making conditions extremely unsafe. As a result, Lions Park is now closed for the foreseeable future. Until the river recedes and the gorge opens up, water may continue to enter the park, posing both visible and hidden risks.
🚧 What’s Open & Closed:
✅ Lions Park parking lot remains open.
🚫 The entire park is closed to all visitors.
We’re hopeful the Madison River will be generous this year, receding quickly and without significant damage. Thank you for avoiding the area and for your cooperation in keeping our community safe.
Stay tuned for updates.
